Alfred Fornay is the go to beauty and fashion authority for women of color. Ash, cocoa, brown, beige, red bone, and high yellow cover most of the shades of black. It's obvious that black comes in so many beautiful shades, and Fornay has the answers to some of the most difficult makeup dilemmas. The African-American Woman's Guide To Successful Make-up and Skin Care is one of the books in which Fornay shares his expertise. Women, teens, and also professionals working in cosmetics and fashion can benefit from Fornay's advice. Alfred Fornay is pictured below with an attendee from one of his programs who makes sure that she is all smiles for the camera.

Fornay profiled a few successful women in his book, and one of them really stuck out like a sore thumb because of her unique experience with make up. Iman is the Model/Actress that had the unique experience. Here is a shot of this famous, beautiful, business woman.

Iman has been very vocal about the experience she had with makeup while working in the modeling world. The problem was that she often had to mix different products and colors to achieve a perfect look. The one that adequately matched her beauty mold didn't always come straight off the shelf, so she made it work by creating her own. Iman said " I had to learn to create make-up that looked good on me by being a good chemist"

Maybelline New York Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Makeup is my new favorite foundation because it is super light and extremely blendable. For example, instead of using a pressed powder to set my liquid foundation, I utilize a bronzer(s) or eye shadow(s) to finish my look. It really only takes a little and my face instantly looks flawless. Here are a few pictures of some of my favorite Maybelline Products and some shots of Jessica White the woman who is representing well for sisters and Maybelline really look gorgeous in Maybelline graphics. She really photos up well.

If you are having trouble locating your most suitable shade, there are a few do's and dont's that will help you to acheive your closest match so that you can get it right in front of the mirror. Let's start with the dont's.

  • Do not choose the darkest color just because you are a darker skinned woman
  • Do not think that every makeup line has a shade available to match your skin tone exactly right
  • Do not be fooled into thinking that more layers are necessary in order to get a flawless finished look
  • Do not try to cover darker areas of your face with foundation, bronzer, or a pressed powder alone
  • Do not neglect using a concealer before applying your makeup
  • Do not be afraid to slightly blend your concealer
  • Do not apply foundation, press powder, or bronzer immediately after applying your liquid concealer
  • Do not forget to set your foundation when using a liquid makeup
  • Do not think that wearing make up means heavy coverage
  • Do not be afraid to try new things

  • Always be open to the idea of variety
  • Understand that you should always strive to look as natural as possible
  • Understand that a caked on look is noticable
  • Understand that the wrong color bronzer can cause your skin to look orange
  • Understand that you must read the definition of tan
  • Remember that you must set your liquid make up with a press powder, foundation, bronzer, or finishing powder
  • Wait a minute or two before applying your make up when using a liquid concealer
  • Blend in your concealer before applying your make up
  • Remember that pressed powder, bronzer, or foundation can not be used alone if you have scarring/sun damage
  • Remember that a natural flawless look is the goal
  • Remember that you will not be able to find you best shade in every make up line
  • Remember that red and yellow undertones are popular in black skin
  • Understand that ,makeup is not designed to match your skintone by the way it looks
  • Understand that makeup is designed to blend with your skintone to create your true color
  • Except that you may have to become your own chemist to get your best look
  • Have more than one finished makeup look
  • Use trial and error to find your best match.
