Walgreens has been labeled as Americas Drugstore for as long as I can remember. Being number one means taking on more responsibilities to ensure the continued health and well-being of the community as a whole. By uniting with Lilly Diabetes Walgreens is making their commitment to the community more obvious. Walgreens is attempting to continue their mission to be a health and wellness leader as part of an effort to counsel and educate citizens living "throughout the Indianapolis area" about hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) The materials issued to consumers and patients alike will contain information alerts on what to look for as far as symptoms are concerned.

Here what Steve Sugino Vice President of Lilly Diabetes had to say about this healthcare collaboration. "At Lilly Diabetes, we understand that managing diabetes extends beyond medicines to tools and resources that provide real personalized solutions to improve the quality of everyday life, which is why we're excited to collaborate with Walgreens to tackle the important and sometimes overlooked issue of hypoglycemia." Sugino also believes that the initiative will open the door for better communication opportunities between Walgreens Pharmacists and people affected with the disease.

Walgreens Pharmacy Director Macel Naddaf had this to say about how Walgreens leaders feels about these new efforts aimed at improving health, wellness, and awareness. "With the high incidence of diabetes and it's potential complications, were pleased to collaborate with Lilly Diabetes to provide valuable information to our customers with diabetes to help them better manage their condition."

Walgreens "as the nations largest drugstore chanin with fiscal sales of $72 billion, Walgreens" continues to be forward thinking in their quest to be "Americas first choice for health and daily living" services and supplies
